Trade

It's easy to forget that Kansas City exists largely because of trade. We've long been the second largest rail hub in the nation. This was also once one of the most important markets for beef. America's Main Street and First Avenue, I-70 and I-35 cross in the middle of our downtown, making this a good location for intermodal hubs.

How many know that wheat is still bought and sold at the Kansas City Board of Trade? I didn't. In looking for new sources of local news I discovered a press release from said entity announcing the tenth straight month of record trading volume. It's not sexy, I know. But at least it's home grown (pardon the pun).
