Here's some items from this week's City Council meeting.- The council passed the first measure related to the use of stimulus money passed City Hall yesterday. Congressman Cleaver has an explanation of this ordinance on his blog.
- The controversial dress code for city subsidized developments passed yesterday. (Here's KCUR's take on this.) I say hooray! You may think the KC Live dress code was not discriminatory because all a black person had to do was change his or her cloths to gain admittance. When the fashions change among urban blacks, would the KC Live dress code follow? I'm not clairvoyant, but I think I know the answer.
- The plan to make MAST a city department moved forward. (Here's the Star's take on this.)
- $350,000 was allocated to begin design work on an expressway that overlaps Kansas City, Sugar Creek, and Independence. At a time when other communities are tearing down urban expressways, couldn't we devote this money to transit.
